2009-2010 Lakeshore Hockey League Playoff Rules 1) USA hockey and Lakeshore Hockey rules will apply in all games. 2) Each player’s playoff eligibility will be determined prior to the start of the playoffs. As a reminder the number of games played in each division to be eligible for playoffs is as follows: Varsity: at least 5 league games Junior Varsity and Freshman : at least 7 league games 3) The home team shall be determined by the highest seeded team in the game. 4) One (1) 30 second timeout for each team will be allowed in playoff and championship games. 5) There will be no curfew for any playoff or championship game. 6) Tiebreaker in playoff and championship games: In the event of a tie after regulation time the following will occur a) A single five (5)-minute overtime period 5 on 5 If still tied : b) Each team will select 3 different players. Each player will take a penalty shot, alternating shots from team to team (visitors go first). (Goalies will be in the goal they were in for the 3rd period). At the end of the six (6) shots, the Team with the highest number of goals advances (wins). If still tied: c) Each team will select another 3 players (different than the first three (3)). These players will take alternating sets of penalty shots (visitors first) until one player fails to score when the opponent scores. This will be repeated until a winner is determined. 7) Handshakes will be at the end of all playoff games. Handshakes for the championship games will be at the time when the players are acknowledged after lining up at the blue line after the game. (each player will shake the hand of the head coach then shake over and shake the hands of each of the opposing team players and coaches.) 8) After the warm up time, each team will line up on the blue line with helmets off for the playing of the National Anthem. Teams are then immediately to line up for the opening face-off. 9) Each team will provide 2 off ice officials for each playoff and championship game. One for the penalty box and one for time clock or score sheet.
